Every year, June 27 is
National HIV Testing Day (NHTD)
As part of a national campaign, on this day, people are encouraged to get tested for HIV, and get linked to treatment and care if HIV+.
Approximately 1.1 million people in the United States are HIV+. Several people are HIV+ without having been diagnosed, often for years.
The first step in maintaining their health while helping to reduced transmission for those who are undiagnosed is getting tested.
As part of routine health care, it is recommended by the CDC that persons 13-64 get tested for HIV at least once.
